Black Friday Book Release

Walt Howard will read from his brand new children’s book, “The Abduction of Kevin Bacon.”

In a nutshell: About nine or ten months ago my friend Jon inspired me to write a children’s book based on an anecdote he told me about his newly acquired dog, Kevin Bacon. Jon’s wife Heather (an artist and art teacher) has provided some beautiful illustrations to accompany the text; a limited first run of books will be produced in early November. Without spoiling anything, I can tell you that the story is roughly suited to middle grade readers, but I think younger children, teens, and adults will enjoy the book as well. “The Abduction of Kevin Bacon” is basically a tale about mistaken identity, animal instincts gone awry, and the power of love and forgiveness.
The event is being held on Friday, November 25th (Black Friday) @ 4:00 p.m. It will take place at Uncle Jon’s Music, located at 33 N. Cass Ave. in beautiful downtown Westmont, IL.
The event will include a reading from the story, followed by a book sale/fundraiser for Second City Canine Rescue, a great foster organization right here in Chicagoland: secondcitycaninerescue.org
All proceeds generated from book sales (minus printing costs) will be used to support Second City. A reception with free holiday punch and cookies will conclude the event. The author, illustrator, and real life stars of the book will be on hand to mingle, sign books, and answer questions.
If you would like to attend, book sale donations are completely up to you. Printing costs will be minimal–anything beyond that is greatly appreciated. There will probably be a small suggested donation–nothing exorbitant. An e-book version of the story will also be available to purchase for those who cannot attend but would still like a copy of the book. If I need to mail additional hard copies at a later date I will gladly do so.
For more info on the book you can email the author at ptlwritersgroup@gmail.com
